What is "The Award"?
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is the world's leading youth acheivement award.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award ("The Award") is an exciting, self-developmental organization which equips our youth with life skills which aid in making a difference to themselves, their communities and their world.
The Award has been in Barbados for more than 50 years. It was started by Deighton Maynard in 1963 and has been challenging and inspiring Barbadian youth ever since.
Today The Award programme is offered at many of the island's secondary schools and is used by youth organisations like the Barbados Cadet Corps, Barbados Boy Scouts, The Girl Guides Association of Barbados.
Doing the Award
The Award is an amazing organization which can help you develop life skills, meet new people, have fun experiences, make new discoveries about yourself, and help you make a positive impact on your community.
Are you between the ages of 14-24?
Want to have fun, new experiences? Looking for a challenge? Do you like adventure?
Then The Award is definitely for you.
Donors & Partners
Donors are partners and welcomed members of the Award family. Working with donors, The Award combines resources and a passion for youth to help young adults become their best selves.
Partnerships with other youth organisations and departments increase The Award's reach into the Barbadian community. Individual volunteers are integral to making that Award a success.
